Who we are
We are a family-run small business operating in Vanderhoof, BC. At this time, we can only sell our products within BC (see our FAQ page). Our products are available at a few physical retailers, in person by appointment in Vanderhoof, and through this website: trailfare.ca.
This page is intended to outline and help you understand how we may collect, use, and store any personal information of yours. We understand that your privacy and personal information is important to you and take our responsibility for it seriously.
Comments
We value your comments on our product – it helps other make choices and gives us valuable feedback.
When you leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If you use this service, and after approval of your comment, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies and Third Party Privacy Policies
Our website uses cookies. We use WordPress and Jetpack to run our website. You can see Jetpack’s cookie policy here. We use both WordPress and MonsterInsights to help us track some site statistics. Please read MonsterInsignts privacy and terms of use to understand how they use your information. We power our store with WooCommerce and Square handles our checkout. WooCommerce uses some cookies to improve your shopping experience – their cookie policy is available here. Square runs all our credit card and debit transactions, both in person and on our online checkout. They describe how they handle cookies and customer information in their privacy policy. We build our forms using WPForms and any information entered into forms on our website is handled by them. How they handle your information is outlined in their privacy and cookie policies.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Purchases
When you make a purchase from us, either in person or through our website, your financial information (credit or debit) is handled by Square, and your card numbers are not visible to us. Square is PCI compliant and has more information on its security here.
If your purchase is made through the website, we also collect your name, email, billing and shipping addresses so we can communicate with you and complete your order. We will keep this information for up to one year to help us track our sales for tax purposes. If you would like your personal information removed earlier, you can send us an email requesting us to do so. You will receive a confirmation email when it has been deleted.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Emails sent through our contact us page, and any data entered into forms on our webpage are handled by WPForms.
Information required to conduct a transaction – when and where the transactions occur, the names and contact information of the transacting parties, a description of the transactions, the payment amounts, and the devices and payment methods used to complete the transactions – are collected when you make transaction using a credit or debit card, GooglePay, or other digital payment options and is shared with and handled by Square.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
We keep information collected when your make an online purchase (name, email, billing and shipping addresses, and what your ordered) for up to one year to help us with our own taxes.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or made purchases, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. You will receive an automated confirmation email once the data has been erased. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
